The Bundesliga, sometimes known as the 1. Bundesliga, is an independent professional soccer league in Germany. At the helm of this German soccer league system, the Bundesliga is Germany`s second most popular professional football competition. The popularity of this league can be attributed to its long standing tradition as one of the leading soccer leagues in Europe.
During its existence, the Bundesliga has been affected through four different administrators. The first administration, in 1990, was charged with the task of transforming the bankrupt liga into a financially stable and professional league. Under the leadership of Reinhart Lienenreuter, who is widely considered one of the finest managers in the history of the German cup, the league finally began to prosper. The next administration, in 1993, brought in a new management team and brought in a new identity to the league. The third administration, following the completion of its first season in operation, brought a new stadium and also brought in a new set of rules and regulations that marked a new era in the history of Bundesliga.
Since its inception the league has gone through four different administrators, each of which brought a different kind of style to the league. One of these was Harrhard Bremen, who brought a new identity to the league while still making it a thrilling and exciting football experience for fans. Another manager was Henrich Mies van der Elst, who brought a new sense of energy to his players while adding a winning attitude to his team. Finally, Joachim Lienenroth, who succeeded Bremen as commissioner, brought a completely new approach to the way the league was run.
The current administration has done an amazing job of revamping the league. Now the goal is not just to maintain the current status but to ensure that it is possible for teams from other leagues to join. In the first division of the Bundesliga the sides are required to be registered with the league's body, of which they then compete in a division styled similar to that of Germany's famous cup league. The second division consists of teams that played in the previous season's competition but are not eligible to play in the current tournament. These teams only compete in the playoffs against teams from the same league and their results to decide which team plays in the championship series.
Each of these three levels has its own ranking system based on points earned and form-based qualification. In addition to this the playoff rankings also follow a format of qualification based on the number of points that teams have amassed throughout the season. This means that the competition in the league is far more balanced than in other leagues.
